The pool is closed for the season.

The pool will reopen in

Looking for an alternate pool to use in the off-season? The web site Swimmers Guide has options around the world, including Fulton County.

We met our match...thank you!

Our 2008 fund raising campaign was a smashing success...we raised over $58,000. Neighborhood contributions helped us secure a $10,000 matching grant from the Atlanta Falcons Youth Organization.

Pool news and notes

  • Feel free to bring snacks but remember to eat them in the designated eating area to keep ants to a minimum.
  • PLEASE use the restroom changing tables for diaper changes - NOT the shade structure.
  • Please use restrooms for changing children in and out of bathing suits.
  • No noodles in the pool - chunks of disintegrating noodles are clogging the drains. However, children's flotation devices that have cloth seats are permitted in the Grant Park Pool. Ring devices without seats are not permitted in the pool.
  • Please stay with your children. On crowded times, swimming children should take advantage of the large pool and leave the smaller pool for under 5 kids and, if necessary, their older siblings. Also, children should not make a game out of jumping back and forth between pools.
  • Lockers are provided in the restrooms if you'd like to bring a lock and keep your valuables there during your stay. Make sure you empty it and take your lock with you on your way home. The pool is not responsible for left or stolen items.
  • Proper swim attire is required for everyone entering the pool. Men's trunks must have netting.

  • Take a quick rinse in the showers before entering the pool area to help keep our pool clean.
  • Thunder closes the pool for 30 minutes.
  • Swim diapers are required for all children under 4. If you have any extra swim diapers around, please drop them off at the pool, so management can avoid turning away patrons that don't have orcan't afford swim diapers.

Have you seen the pool lately?

The pool has undergone a total transformation. Little kids can splash right into the new zero entry pool, which gradually slopes downward like a beach. The new splash spot spouts water from various points, while the big blue awning provides much needed shade. The bathhouse has been completely renovated, as has the large pool. New filtration systems should ensure a great experience for all!Do note that the entrance to the pool has changed. Instead of entering through the gate on the side, you'll now enter through the men's and women's lockerrooms, respectively, on the front of the bathhouse.

Swim Team & Lessons

Swim team must be cancelled this year, due to our delayed pool opening. We are happy about the interest generated this year. Come back next year! Hopefully we can have evening practice.

Friends of Grant Park Pool

The Friends of Grant Park Pool was established in Fall of 2004, to help make our community's pool a nice, clean, safe place that is welcoming to everyone. We are a group of neighbors volunteering our time to work in partnership with the City of Atlanta's Bureau of Parks and Recreation, Grant Park Neighborhood Association, and others to provide additional resources - volunteer, program, material, and financial - to ensure that our neighborhood pool facility realizes its potential as a gathering place for all.

This website was established to help us communicate with you! It contains pertinent information about the pool hours, rules, etc as well as lots of ways for you to learn more and get involved.

We have been enthusiastically guided by our District 1 Councilmember, Carla Smith, and supported by the City of Atlanta's Commissioner for Parks and Recreation, Dianne Harnell-Cohen. It is our hope that we can be a valuable neighborhood partner with the City by bringing volunteer energy and other local resources to bear on behalf of a facility that offers a great recreational resource to so many people. In short, we want Grant Park's pool to be a model for our city and beyond!

Please join us! Come to the pool this summer! Raise your hand when we ask for help! Do your part to make the Grant Park Pool a nice, clean, safe place that is welcoming to everyone!

Thank you! And check back often...

Please Note: this site is hosted by Friends of Grant Park Pool, a group of volunteers who’ve come together to support our neighborhood pool. We host events and sponsor programs, purchase deck equipment and swim attire, and are advocate for both strong City management and significant neighborhood involvement in the pool.

The City of Atlanta owns and operates the Grant Park Pool. Questions and concerns about the pool facility and policies should be made directly to Charlene Braud, cbraud_at_atlantaga.gov (replace _at_ with @), Director of Recreation. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you this summer at Grant Park Pool.
